Skiing in the MRV

We fell in love with the MRV in the winter. It’s an amazing place when everything turns white. Right out our back door (well, within in 10 minutes) there are 3 great places to ski. You’ll find something for every level and appetite for skiing.

Sugarbush Lincoln Peak

Lincoln Peak is Sugarbush’s primary resort style mountain. The base area has plenty of modern amenities and conveniences.

This is a great place for beginners (or never-ever) to start skiing. Both the terrain and ski school are a great if you’re just getting into the skiing.

Sugarbush Mount Ellen

Mount Ellen is a great spot if you want to be away from the crowds of Lincoln Peak but still want some of the advantages that a resort can provide. There are plenty of high-speed lifts to get you to the top quickly.

The lodge is rather no-frills but that’s what makes it special. Check out the bar for apres ski. There’s often good music.

Mad River Glen

It’s hard to describe Mad River Glen (MRG). It’s truly a special and unique place. You almost have to go there to understand it.

Do not go to MRG if you’re hoping for a resort-type experience. The beauty of MRG is it’s simplicity. There are no high-speed lifts, no fancy lodge, no mid-mountain lodge. But what it lacks in frills, it makes up for in thrills. The terrain is second to none in New England. Don’t let their tag line scare you (Ski it if you can). There is plenty there for all abilities.
