Hiking in the Mad River Valley

There is no shortage of amazing hiking throughout the Valley.  You can find a trail to follow around every curve.  We haven't had a chance to explore even a fraction of the trails.  Here are some of the hikes we've enjoyed.  Explore the book on the tv stand in the house and find your favorite.

Blueberry Lake

We've only had the opportunity to explore this in the summer.  But so far, so good.   There are a number of trails on the opposite side of Plunkton Road from the lake.  Do be careful as these are used by mountain bikers as well.  Everything is well marked.  This is a dog friendly place but carry your leash to be sure.

Sunset Ledge

Sunset Ledge is a moderate hike.  The begining starts out a little steep but it then levels out.  It's a 2.2 mile, out-and-back hike that offers some beautiful views.  It's dog friendly but because as you approach mile 1 because of the ledges.

Hunger Mountain

We've only tackled this one in the winter which is certianly a little slick with ice.  It should be a little more tame in the drier months.  It take about 2 hours to hike to the top of the mountain.  You'll get some beautiful views once you're up there.  This is well-worth the drive up to Waterbury.
